Keeping It Green

With all three kids away this summer, I decided instead of writing my blog I was going to sit back, reflect and be totally selfish. Now that the July rain has washed the summer away, life is back in full swing, and I wanted to take the time to share what I have learned.

I learned all about colors this summer. Green, Yellow and Red. A stoplight right. Green = Go, Yellow=Proceed with caution and Red=Stop, or as I now see it, stay away.

I was introduced to someone who started a company that helps you identify people and environments that oxygenate your mind and spirit. Green = Oxygen, people or things that give you life; these are the people and places you need to keep in your life, and when possible, increase the numbers. Yellow = those “iffy” people and experiences or those who deserve a second chance. Red= poison or run as fast as you can.

At the time he explained, his website wasn’t up and the materials weren’t produced, so I did my own little experiment. I became much more aware of my verbal and non-verbal reactions to people and the guttural feeling I got from people. There are some who I have distanced myself from, others I have left go and those who I have realized how much they oxygenate my being.

It was an interesting experiment for me, realizing I often went against my instinct and tried to please the red and yellows in my life versus concentrating on the green people in my life. Stress is the number 1 cause of illness in our lives, so oxygenate your life with green peeps. It will make you happier and live longer.

For those of you who celebrate Rosh Hashannah, may your new year be sweet, fruitful and very green.
